Football'Sister Bokina' Trends As Springbok Rugby World Cup Squad Is Announced, Video
- Sister Bethina is one of the most popular songs in the country despite the hit being released so long ago
- Mgarimbe's song has been remixed and released as an anthem for the Springboks before the World Cup
- South Africa will look to defend their Rugby World Cup title when the 2023 tournament begins in France
There’s no denying that Sister Bethina is a South African classic.
The song by Mgarimbe has been often described as the country’s national anthem and is often played at rugby games after the singing of the anthem.
Extremely infectious and catchy, South Africans can’t help but dance when they hear it. With it being so popular in the country, and its connection to the Springboks, the song has now been remixed and given a rugby flair.
Dubbed Sister Bokina, it has become the national rugby team's anthem ahead of the upcoming Rugby World Cup in France.
The Springboks will be looking to defend the title they won in Japan four years ago and have named a strong side to try and do so.
At the official announcement of the squad for the tournament, Sister Bokina once again got airplay and got fans dancing to the beat.
If you haven’t heard it already, give it a listen here.
While the beat remains catchy and now incorporates names of Springbok players, some fans aren’t impressed.

Sister Bethina becomes SA anthem
It appears that the Springbok matchday experience will never be complete with Sister Bethina by Mgarimbe blaring out of the stadium speakers.
As Sports Brief previously reported, a video has gone viral of Bok supporters at Ellis Park Stadium, singing and dancing along to the cult hit.
It has become a tradition that once crowds are done singing the national anthem, the stadium emcee puts the song on to 'gee up' the spectators.
