When is the next Rugby World Cup? Teams, locations, schedule, tickets

The Rugby World Cup is a global showpiece that happens once every four years involving the best Rugby 15s national sides in the world. The last World Cup occurred in 2019 in Japan. Today we delve into when the next Rugby World Cup will be played and the teams and venues.

The 2019 edition was the first to be held in Asia. It was won by the Springboks of South Africa, who beat England 32-12 to achieve their third World Cup title.

Where will the next Rugby World Cup be held?

The next edition of the tournament will be held in France. It is the first Rugby World Cup to be held entirely in France. France won the right to host the tournament after impressing World Rugby more than the bids done by Ireland and South Africa in 2017. Below are the stadiums in which the games will be held.

Rugby World Cup 2023 dates

The tournament will be played between 9th September 2023 and 28th October 2023. The pool stage will end on October 8th, and the remaining 20 days will be reserved for the knockout stages and the finals. A breakdown of the fixtures, dates, kick off times and locations are below.

Out of various regional qualifying tournaments as well as rankings from the previous World Cup, 20 teams qualified for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. They are divided into four groups as follows:

For those asking where to buy tickets for the next Rugby World Cup, they officially went on sale on the Rugby World Cup website on 13th September 2022. Others can be found on authorised online ticketing sites such as P1 Travel and Ticombo.

When is the next Rugby World Cup for women's teams?

The last edition for women was held in 2021 in New Zealand. The hosts won the game, beating England 34-31 in the final. The next women's Rugby World Cup will be played in 2025 and hosted by England. Australia has been granted the right to host the tournament in 2029, and the United States will play host in 2033.
