Morne Steyn is leading the Vodacom Bulls’ charge up the Currie Cup standings.

The veteran flyhalf produced a brilliant kicking display as the Bulls beat the Fidelity ADT Lions at Loftus Versfeld.

As noted by SA Rugby Mag, Steyn (38) kicked 15 points as the Bulls secured a comfortable 30-19 win.

Leading 20-0 at halftime, the Bulls had to overcome a late surge from the Lions. The Bulls were reduced to 13 men in the third quarter, which allowed the Lions a way in. They made the advantage count, and the score was 23-12 with less than 15 minutes to go.

The Bulls killed off the game with another try to secure their third victory in a row.

As noted by IOL, the win saw the Bulls overtake their rivals, Western Province, on the Currie Cup log. The Bulls are currently fifth on the standings after seven games, while DHL Western Province are in sixth.

The Lions’ next fixture sees them take on the table-topping Airlink Pumas on Friday, April 28, while Western Province and the Bulls will clash in Cape Town on Saturday, April 29.

Western Province sink the Bulls

Sports Brief previously reported that DHL Western Province continued their perfect unbeaten start to the Currie Cup campaign.

They beat their rivals, the Vodacom Bulls, in a high-scoring encounter.

Province handed the Bulls their fourth straight loss at Loftus Versfeld, as they secured a 41-33 victory.

Western Province's Jean-Luc du Preez has proven that rugby players are capable of magic, Sports Brief has also reported.

He pulled off an amazing pass ala Sonny Bill Williams, which led to a thrilling try by Clayton Blommetjies at Loftus Versfeld.

The visitors would win the entertaining Currie Cup match 41-33 for a perfect start to the season, while the hosts are in a rut.
