Team South Africa's fairytale run in the aquatic centre at the Commonwealth Games sadly didn't end on a high note.

The South Africans narrowly missed out on a medal in the Women's 4x100 Medley Relay as they were pipped to the bronze medal by England.

Rebecca Meder, Lara van Niekerk, Erin Gallagher and Aimee Canny pushed the hosts all the way but were beaten right at the end. Australia took the win in the event, with Canada finishing second.

The South Africans could not get a medal in the other finals they were represented in. Meder competed in the Women's 50m Backstroke final but finished eight. Canada's Kylie Masse took the gold, with Australia's Mollie O'Callaghan and Kaylee McKeown finishing in second and third.
