Biography

Ed Orgeron was born on the 27th of July 1961 to Cornelia (Co Co) and the late Edward Orgeron (Ba Ba) in Louisiana. Coach O and his brother Steve were raised in the rich Cajun community of Larose, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. Before his death, Ba Ba fully supported his son's football dream.

Did Ed Orgeron play football?

Before joining professional American football leagues, Orgeron played for the South Lafourche High School team in the offensive guard and defensive tackle positions. Unknown to many, the coach played high school football on the same team as Pro Bowl quarterback Bobby Herbert who played for the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Michigan Panthers. Both players were members of the South Lafourche High School’s 1977 Class 4A state championship lineup.

Following a successful athletic career in high school, he signed with Louisiana State University, where he only spent two weeks, citing homesickness. He later joined his childhood friend and teammate, Bobby Herbert, at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. His playing experience with the Northwestern Demons lasted four years between 1980 and 1984.

Has Ed Orgeron coached in the NFL?

Throughout his career, Ed has not coached any NFL teams. However, reports suggest he may be headed for a position in NFL teams, such as the Seattle Seahawks.
