NBAWhere Will DeAndre Hopkins Go? Top Landing Spots for the Star Wide Receiver
- DeAndre Hopkins became a free agent after the Arizona Cardinals released him on Friday
- Von Miller and Dion Dawkins took to social media to recruit Hopkins to the Buffalo Bills
- The Patriots are reportedly interested in signing Hopkins now that he is a free agent
The Arizona Cardinals sent shockwaves across the NFL on Friday with the announcement that they have released star wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins.
The three-time first-team All-Pro is now a free agent and will get to choose who he plays for this year.
Where will the 30-year-old play next? Here are the top landing spots for Hopkins.
Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen was the first name that came out of Hopkins’ mouth when he was asked which quarterback he would like to play for, per Sports Illustrated.
Hopkins can make that a reality now that he’s a free agent. Several Bills players are urging Buffalo to sign Hopkins, including linebacker Von Miller and offensive tackle Dion Dawkins.
Miller posted a story on Instagram of Hopkins thinking of a buffalo following the news that the Cardinals released him.
Miller has been campaigning for the Bills to acquire Hopkins before his release.
He told reporters last month that the Bills would have a crazy lineup if they added Hopkins to their squad.
Dawkins also took to social media to recruit the wide receiver, tagging Hopkins on a tweet to let him know there’s a spot waiting for him in the Bills’ locker room.
Buffalo needs a receiver who can take some pressure off Stefon Diggs.
Signing Hopkins will make the Bills a legitimate Super Bowl contender this coming season.
Kansas City Chiefs
Hopkins knows the only thing his career is missing at this stage is a Super Bowl title. For that reason alone, he needs to consider the Kansas City Chiefs to be his next team.
The reigning Super Bowl champs are looking for a receiver to help tight end Travis Kelce in moving the sticks following Juju Smith-Schuster’s departure this offseason.

Adding Hopkins to that mix will make Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs feel more confident in their title defense.
New England Patriots
One team that is interested in signing Hopkins is New England.
According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, the Patriots are "more likely" to pursue the wide receiver now that he doesn't carry a massive $30.8 million cap hit for the 2023 season following his release.
Adding Hopkins to the Pats could benefit Mac Jones, who struggled in his second season with New England.
Hopkins will find a familiar face in New England if he signs with the Pats, as their offensive coordinator is Bill O’Brien, his former Texans coach.
