The accolades just keep coming for Patrick Mahomes.

The Kansas City quarterback was named Super Bowl LVII's Most Valuable Player on Sunday, following the Chiefs' 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

It was a historic feat for Mahomes, who became the first player to take home both the Associated Press NFL MVP and the Super Bowl MVP in the same season this century.

Injured Mahomes cannot be stopped

It did not help matters that Mahomes reaggravated the high ankle sprain that he suffered during the NFL Divisional Round game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, per USA Today.

Mahomes injured the ankle again during the latter stages of the second quarter of Super Bowl LVII. That did not stop the 27-year-old from inspiring the Chiefs to a memorable comeback win in the second half.

He led Kansas City to a touchdown in their opening drive of the third quarter to cut Philadelphia’s lead to three points.

He then threw two touchdown passes in a span of fewer than three minutes at the start of the fourth quarter to turn a 21-27 deficit into a 35-27 lead for the Chiefs.

The Eagles answered right back with a touchdown of their own, which was followed by Jalen Hurts’ successful two-point conversion to even things up with 5:15 left.

Some called this a legacy game for Mahomes, and he made sure he came out the winner in this one. With the Super Bowl hanging in the balance, he led the Chiefs down the field for a scoring drive.

The play that will be remembered for years to come was Mahomes’ 26-yard scramble in the latter stages of the fourth quarter to help set up Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal.

Mahomes completed 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for 44 yards in this contest, according to ESPN.

Those numbers were enough to earn him his second Super Bowl MVP award. He last won that prize in Super Bowl LIV when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

Celebrities spotted at Super Bowl

Sports Brief recently reported on Mahomes not being the only star of the Super Bowl, with celebs attending the sporting event in their numbers.

A-listers at the Super Bowl included LeBron James, fresh from his NBA history-making performance for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Apart from the thrilling contest, the celebrities were also treated to a spectacular performance show by Rihanna during half-time.
