Wembanyama’s numbers with the Spurs

Victor Wembanyama is living up to the hype. He’s averaging 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds over his first seven games in the NBA, per Fox Sports.

He has been as good as advertised on the defensive end as well, recording 2.6 blocks per game this season.

The Frenchman’s best performance this season came in just his fifth career NBA game.

He torched the Phoenix Suns, scoring 38 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the San Antonio Spurs’ 132-121 win.

He became just the third teenager to record at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks in an NBA game, joining LeBron James and Kevin Durant on that exclusive list.

Holmgren’s numbers with the Thunder

Wemby might be grabbing all the headlines right now, but Chet Holmgren’s numbers this season aren’t far behind the Frenchman’s.

He’s averaging 17.0 points per outing through seven games on 55.7 percent shooting from the field.

He has been lights out from beyond the arc, knocking down 53.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

Holmgren has been stuffing the stat sheet for Oklahoma City, averaging 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game this season.

He put up monster numbers in the Thunder’s 108-105 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last month, scoring 16 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and recording a career-high seven blocks, per Sports Illustrated.

Comparing LeBron and Wemby's NBA debuts

Sports Brief also recently compared Wembanyama and LeBron James' NBA debuts.

Wembanyama played limited minutes in his first start for the Spurs due to foul trouble, but still finished with 15 points in the 126-119 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

James had a much better showing on his debut for the Cavs, recording 25 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals against the Sacramento Kings.
