Dillon Brooks prides himself on being his team’s best defender.
The Houston Rockets star wants to guard the opposing team’s best player and shut him down.
However, Brooks has been all talk thus far, with Victor Wembanyama and Stephen Curry humiliating him in the Rockets’ last two games against the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.
Brooks was asked about the French star days before the Rockets’ clash with San Antonio. Wembanyama has been the talk of the town ever since he joined the Spurs as their No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft.

NBABrooks doesn’t like paying compliments to his opponents, and this was the case for Wembanyama as well.
His thoughts about the teen phenom grabbed the headlines, telling reporters:
“He's tall, that's really it.”
Wembanyama showed Brooks he is not just tall, displaying some nifty footwork in the opening minute of overtime to create some separation off the inbound.
He then elevated for a mid-range jumper, which Brooks tried to disrupt by jumping in front of the Spurs big man.
He was no match, though, for the 7-foot-4 star, who had no problem draining the basket to give San Antonio a 113-111 lead, per Sports Illustrated.
Wembanyama pointed at Brooks after making the shot, sending a message to the Rockets guard that he is not just all height.
He finished the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Spurs grabbed their first win in the Wemby era.
Ranking! Who are 20 of the most Influential NBA players of this decade?
NBABrooks had another tough assignment on Sunday, just two days after his meeting with Wembanyama and the Spurs.
The Rockets faced the Golden State Warriors at home, with Brooks getting the dreaded Stephen Curry matchup.
For the second straight game, Brooks was made to look silly by an NBA superstar.
Curry made four straight threes late in the fourth quarter, turning a slim 88-87 lead to a 100-89 advantage for the Warriors.
The two-time MVP’s fourth three during that run was the best of the lot, with Curry pulling out a deadly crossover that sent Brooks in the opposite direction.
Brooks tried to recover as Curry lined up for a triple, but he was fooled again.
Curry held his shot as Brooks flew past him through the air, only releasing the jumper once the latter was out of the equation.
The Warriors star lost his mind after making the basket, doing a Home Alone celebration in front of the Houston crowd, per USA Today.
NBA players who died on the court: Ballers who passed away doing what they love
NBASports Brief recently compared Wembanyama's NBA debut to LeBron James' first game in the league, as the French phenom continues to impress.
Wembanyama played limited minutes in his first NBA start due to foul trouble, but still finished with 15 points in the loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
James had a much better showing on his debut, recording 25 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals against the Sacramento Kings.
