- Lonzo Ball blasted Stephen A. Smith for questioning his ability to return from a knee injury
- The Chicago Bulls guard posted a video of himself doing an exercise using his injured leg
- Smith had claimed in his report that Ball had difficulty getting up from a seated position
It’s safe to say Lonzo Ball is no longer a fan of Stephen A. Smith.
The Chicago Bulls star blasted the ESPN host after the latter questioned Ball’s ability to return from his knee injury.
The guard posted a video of himself standing on his left leg and sitting on a chair to counter Smith’s claims that he can’t get up from a seated position.
Ball addressed Smith as he did the exercise in front of a swimming pool, saying:
"Stephen A., who are your sources, bro? Please tell me who your sources are. C'mon, man. C'mon, man. You gotta stop yapping. And I actually like you, man. I don't even know you like that. But I like you! I'm coming back, man, c'mon!"
Ball’s outrage stemmed from Smith’s recent comments on ESPN’s First Take.
He talked about the Chicago Bulls star's injury, saying:
"Something went wrong in terms of these procedures that he's had. I don't think he'll ever be the same based off what we're seeing and hearing and reading about. I've heard that it's even hard for him to get up from a seated position."
Ball's knee injury nightmare
The Bulls announced last March that Ball would undergo another knee procedure, his third in 14 months after tearing his meniscus in January 2022, per Yahoo Sports.
The former UCLA star hasn't played an NBA game since suffering the injury and missed the entire 2022-23 season as he was still feeling pain in his surgically repaired left knee.
Ball confirmed on From the Point by Trae Young podcast that he would be sidelined for the entire 2023-24 season as well after undergoing a radical procedure to repair his damaged knee.
