The new NBA season is just a couple of months away, and the league will open with two marquee matchups on October 24.

The opening game of the new season will reportedly feature a showdown between the defending champion Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Following that matchup is a clash between the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors.

The Nuggets will raise the franchise's first-ever NBA championship banner and receive their championship rings before their season opener against the Lakers, per USA Today.

It is the second straight season that the Lakers will open their campaign against the defending champions. They lost to Golden State on opening night last year.
