LeBron James' eldest son, Bronny, is in a 'stable condition' after suffering a cardiac arrest in practice on Monday, July 25.
18-year-old Bronny collapsed on the court on Monday and was taken to hospital. However, he is no longer in the ICU.
According to a family statement, as posted by Shams Charania on Twitter, Bronny was able to be treated by the medical staff, who then took him to the hospital.
"[Bronny] is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."
According to TMZ, a 911 call was made from the team's practice facility, and the unconscious Bronny was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Bronny is entering his freshman year at USC and is the sixth-rated point guard in the Class of 2023, per ESPN.
James wants to play with Bronny
James recently revealed his ambition to play with Bronny when he joins the NBA. However, his future in the sport is up in the air following the latest incident.
He is not eligible to play in the NBA until 2024/25 under the rules of the current collective bargaining agreement. LeBron added his son will have to work hard to make it to the NBA.
Waiting for his son to play with him in the NBA would require the four-time champion to continue playing until his 22nd NBA season, which would tie Vince Carter for the most in league history.
