The Athletic’s Shams Charania broke the news of Irving’s switch to ANTA.

A11Even, which is the Mavs star’s management company, negotiated the blockbuster deal. Specifics on Irving’s ANTA deal are not yet known, but Charania said that the terms are ‘unique.’

What caused Nike split?

The basketballer made the move to the Chinese brand after the termination of his contract with Nike last year.

The split was made official last December after Irving found himself embroiled in an antisemitism controversy during his stay in Brooklyn.

One of his social media posts contained a link to an anti-Semitic movie, causing Nike to end its partnership with Irving. He was with the brand since his rookie year with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011, per Sports Illustrated.

Irving lands huge deals

The ANTA deal is the latest big-money contract that Irving has signed. He recently agreed to a three-year, $126 million deal with Dallas.

Irving was traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Mavericks last February in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith after the eight-time All-Star requested a swap.

The star's move to Dallas didn’t go according to plan, however, as the Mavs finished the season 9-18 after his arrival and missed the playoffs as a result.

Irving did put up solid numbers, though, averaging 27 points, six assists, and five rebounds in 20 games played for Dallas.

He scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Spurs' game against the Blazers.

He had back-to-back dunks in the second quarter that sent the fans into a frenzy.
