Sports Brief looks at the triple-double games Thomas had in the regular season.

Vs. Minnesota (July 22, 2022)

Thomas recorded the first triple-double of her career in the regular season against the Minnesota Lynx on July 22, 2022.

She put on a clinic on the road, racking up 15 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in the 94-84 win over the Lynx. She entered the record books with that performance, as that was the first triple-double in Connecticut Sun history.

Vs. Phoenix (August 2, 2022)

Thomas needed just 11 days to record another triple-double, tallying 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in Connecticut’s emphatic win over the Phoenix Mercury on August 2, 2022.

She shot 5 of 13 from the floor in the Sun’s 87-63 victory.

Vs. Seattle (June 20, 2023)

Thomas posted her first triple-double of the 2023 season in Connecticut’s victory against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, June 20.

She put on a show on the road, scoring 13 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists in the Sun’s 85-79 win.

Thomas accomplished the rare feat with 1:26 remaining in the third quarter after draining a bucket. She shot 6 of 12 from the field in that contest. She also made her presence felt on the defensive end, recording three steals against the Storm.

With that triple-double against Seattle, Thomas tied the record for most triple-doubles in the regular season held by Parker and Ionescu.

Vs. Chicago (June 25, 2023)

Thomas needed just five days to become the sole holder of the triple-double record. She dominated the Sky on Sunday, scoring 14 points, dishing out 12 assists, and pulling down 11 rebounds in the 96-72 win.

The 31-year-old made history with that performance. The five-day span between triple-doubles that Thomas recorded is the shortest by one player in WNBA history, per ESPN.

She has stepped up big time ever since Connecticut lost starting forward, Brionna Jones, for the rest of the season due to an Achilles tendon injury she suffered in Tuesday’s game.

Thomas’ playoff triple-doubles

Thomas also has recorded two triple-doubles in the playoffs, making that six in total for her entire career. Those triple-doubles came in the 2022 WNBA Finals against the Las Vegas Aces.

She scored 16 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists in Game 3 to help the Sun avoid elimination, per Yahoo! Sports.

Thomas replicated that feat three days later in Game 4, recording 11 points, 11 assists, and 10 assists. However, those numbers weren’t enough to beat the Aces in Game 4 as the Sun lost the championship series 3-1.

NBA Draft’s winners and losers

Sports Brief recently reported on the 2023 NBA Draft’s winners and losers following the 77th edition this month.

The San Antonio Spurs were surely the biggest winners after landing Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick.

The Charlotte Hornets were deemed losers of the draft after choosing Brandon Miller instead of Scoot Henderson.
