What in the world is happening to Karl-Anthony Towns?

The Minnesota Timberwolves center grabbed the headlines once again after saying they had a more special season in 2022 than the Denver Nuggets’ championship run this year.

Towns made the outlandish statement during an interview on “The Pat Bev Podcast.”

Towns explained why that was the case, saying:

"It was more special what we did in Minnesota because we had like a month, and then we had a training camp. It was like, ‘You better figure it all out right now, and we really figured it out quick.’"

He then added that Denver’s experience as a team made it easier for the Nuggets to put it all together in their magical run to the title, saying: "Four years? We got it done in four months."

Fans blast Towns' ridiculous comment

Fans blasted Towns for his comments, asking what exactly they got done.

The Wolves celebrated like they won the championship when they advanced to the playoffs through the Play-in tournament last year, per Fox News.

Fans made fun of the Wolves players being emotional with their first trip to the postseason since 2004.

Their joy was short-lived, though, as they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in six games in the first round.

Towns have reached the playoffs just three times in his eight-year NBA career. He failed to reach the second round on all of those occasions.

Towns also told Beverley during the interview that he believes people will say he changed the game once he retires from the NBA.

ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins blasted Towns’ remarks, saying: "How can you change the game when at times we don’t even know you exist?"

Towns averaged 20.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per outing last season but played in just 29 regular-season games due to injury.

Hardaway names top 5 centers

Sports Brief recently reported on Tim Hardaway Sr. naming five centers that are better than Towns.

He named Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Bam Adebayo, Brook Lopez, and Domantas Sabonis as the big men who are better than Towns.

Hardaway’s statement comes after Beverley said Towns is now the best center in the NBA.
