Carmelo Anthony's Denver connection

Anthony has a soft spot for the Nuggets as he started his illustrious NBA career in Denver. The Nuggets selected the Syracuse star with the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

Anthony spent the first seven and a half seasons of his NBA career with the Nuggets, averaging 24.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game during his time there, per Sports Illustrated.

The ten-time NBA All-Star shot 45.9 percent from the field in the 564 regular season games he played with the Nuggets.

Anthony managed to lead Denver to the postseason every year that he was with the Nuggets.

While Denver was unable to enjoy much success in the playoffs during Anthony’s time there, the Nuggets did make a deep run in the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

They came very close to reaching the NBA Finals that year, losing in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

Anthony becomes a journeyman

Anthony eventually got traded to the New York Knicks after he requested a blockbuster move to the Big Apple.

In addition to the Nuggets and the Knicks, Anthony also played with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers over his NBA career, which lasted 19 seasons.

Anthony officially announced his retirement from the NBA last month, per CBS Sports.

Denver celebrates win over Miami

Sports Brief recently reported on the Nuggets’ victory celebrations.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray jumped into a pool together after Denver’s win in Game 5.

They combined for 42 points in the Finals clincher.
