They led the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever NBA championship after a thrilling victory in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.
Denver’s dynamic duo celebrated the franchise’s first title in 47 years in style as they were caught on camera diving into the pool together after the win against the Miami Heat.
Jokic made sure Murray went on a championship swim with him, hugging the Canadian guard tightly before throwing him into the pool.
In the now-viral video, another Nuggets player was also seen jumping into the pool after the duo went swimming.
Jokic and Murray clearly were enjoying themselves as they basked in the glory of their maiden title. They definitely deserved it after the performances they delivered during Denver’s incredible championship run.
Jokic wins Finals MVP award
Jokic made history yet again after Denver’s Game 5 win, becoming the lowest-drafted player to win the NBA Finals MVP Award, per ESPN.
He was selected 41st overall by the Nuggets in the second round of the 2014 Draft. He also became the fifth internationally-born player to win the Finals MVP award, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Hakeem Olajuwon, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tony Parker in the very exclusive club.
Jokic stuffed the stat sheet during the playoffs, averaging 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 46.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Murray powers Denver in playoffs
Murray also dazzled in the postseason, averaging 26.1 points, 7.1 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 47.3 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from deep during the playoffs, per Sports Illustrated.
