The Miami Heat are moving on to the 2023 NBA Finals.
They avoided a historic collapse on Monday night, recording a 103-84 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Celtics were attempting to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 0-3 series deficit.
Butler and Martin lead Heat
Jimmy Butler, Caleb Martin, and the rest of the Heat denied the Celtics celebrating that grand achievement.
Butler scored 28 points for the Heat, who reached the NBA Finals for the second time in four seasons, per ESPN.
He stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 43 minutes of action.
Caleb Martin was also remarkable for Miami, registering a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
He made two big baskets in the final 30 seconds of the third quarter that helped Miami build a 10-point lead entering the final frame.
The Heat pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Celtics 27-18 in the final 12 minutes.
Miami made history with the win, becoming the first No. 8 seed to play for an NBA championship since the New York Knicks in 1999.
Heat's wild ride to Finals
It has been a wild ride for the Heat, who had to go through the Play-In Tournament to make it to the Playoffs.
They defeated the Chicago Bulls in a second-chance play-in to lock up the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
