Miami Heat fans across the world thought they had booked their 2023 NBA Finals spot, but Boston Celtics' Derrick White's wild game-winning buzzer-beater stunned them.

During Game 6 on Saturday, May 28, some Heat fans at a wedding reception found themselves celebrating too early, and the video went viral.

The Heat were less than a second away from their second trip to the NBA Finals in four seasons, but White and the Celtics had other ideas. They evened the series after falling 0-3 down in the best-of-seven series.

White's game-winning buzzer-beater saw the Heat narrowly lose 104-103, per ESPN.

Furthermore, the three-time NBA champions had three chances to close the series, but that advantage has evaporated. They will have to do it the hard way in a do-or-die Game 7 on the road.

During an indoor wedding reception, some fans were watching the wild ending of Game 6 on their phone.

The video shows fans watching the final possession of the contest with the heat leading 103-102. White passed the ball to Marcus Smart, who attempted a jumper. It went in and out of the rim, per CBS Sports.

The fans thought it was over and went ballistic, chanting 'Let's go Heat' in the venue. They celebrated wildly and even waved flags across the stage but did not see White's putback at the buzzer, which won the visitors the game.

No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in NBA playoffs history, but the Celtics can become the first if they win Game 7 at home. The Celtics are the fourth NBA team to force a Game 7 after falling behind 3-0 in a best-of-7 series.

The winner of Game 7 will take on the Denver Nuggets, who swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

Butler upbeat ahead of Game 7

Sports Brief earlier reported on Jimmy Butler exuding confidence despite Heat's painful Game 6 defeat to the Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals.

The Heat had a 3-0 series lead, but it has now evaporated, and they will have to win Game 7. They could be on the wrong side of history if they lose this clash.

"We can do it. I know that we will do it. We've got to go on the road and win in a very, very, very tough environment," Butler said.
