After months of intrigue, the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery was finally done, with the San Antio Spurs getting the first pick in next month's draft and earning a chance to select French phenom, Victor Wembanyama.
The Spurs and France have a deep connection. Tony Parker and Boris Diaw won the NBA title with Spurs during their playing days.
Parker was a key player in the Spurs dynasty, helping them reach five NBA finals in 17 seasons with the team.
The 41-year-old also owns ASVEL Basket, a French league team Wembanyama played for during the 2021-22 season.

When he realized Spurs would get the first pick, there were celebrations not only in San Antonio but in France.
The 19-year-old explained why he was glad the Spurs won the lottery.
"There's a special relation between France and the Spurs because of Tony [Parker] of course, and also Boris [Diaw] I know half of the country, if not the whole country, wanted the Spurs to have the first pick. So I was looking at everyone and everyone was happy, so I was too," Wembanyama said, via CBS Sports.
"The universe told me. Dreams, feelings, it happens sometimes, but it's never wrong, it's always right," he added.
After the Draft Lottery was done, Parker posted a picture of a young Wembanyama in a Spurs jersey, per SI.
