NBADraymond Green Reacts to Report That GM Bob Myers Might Be Leaving the Warriors
- The Golden State Warriors are reportedly bracing for the exit of longtime GM Bob Myers
- Myers has served as general manager for the Warriors for 11 years now
- Draymond Green wasn’t happy with the news that Myers might leave the Warriors
Draymond Green has a close relationship with Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers.
The two are integral pieces of the Warriors’ dynasty, helping Golden State win four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.
Their return next season is still up in the air, with reports suggesting that Myers might be headed for the exit soon.
According to Shams Charania, Myers, and the Warriors have had no substantial contract extension talks in months.
The two sides are now bracing for the likelihood that the 48-year-old executive could walk away from the Warriors once his contract is up on June 30.
Contract talks stalled
League sources told The Athletic that both sides exchanged offers and counter-offers several months ago to lock down an agreement.
The talks ended in a stalemate, and there has been no traction on a new deal since.
The Warriors have not yet presented an offer to Myers that has blown him away.
Sources said there is a growing sense that a competitive market offer to Myers now may not be enough to keep him with the Warriors, a franchise he joined as an assistant general manager back in April 2011 before being promoted to GM in April 2012.
Green's reaction to Myers news
One guy who was saddened by this news was Green. He replied to Charania’s tweet about Myers’ contract negotiations with the Warriors, writing, “that s*cks.”
Green also has a decision to make regarding his future with Golden State.
The 33-year-old forward has a player option for $27.6 million, and he could test free agency in July.
