  • The San Antonio Spurs won the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night
  • They earned the right to select generational talent Victor Wembanyama in this year’s draft
  • The Spurs had a 14 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery

In all likelihood, Victor Wembanyama will begin his NBA career in the Lone Star State.

That's because the San Antonio Spurs won Tuesday night's NBA draft lottery.

The French superstar is expected by many to be the top pick in next month's draft, and the Spurs will be able to call Wembanyama’s name at the podium on June 22 in Brooklyn.

Wembanyama a godsend for Spurs

Getting the No. 1 overall pick is a major coup for the Spurs, who finished with a 22-60 record last season.

They didn’t conceal their intentions to tank away the season for a chance to get a generational talent in this year’s draft.

Wembanyama can do it all, as he is elite on both ends of the floor.

The 7-foot-4 French phenom is a great three-point shooter and a marvelous shot-blocker. He also has excellent handles and a solid mid-range game.

Wembanyama showed his skill set in an exhibition game in Las Vegas last October.

He dazzled the crowd, which included NBA superstar LeBron James, scoring 37 points, blocking five shots, and draining seven 3-pointers.

Most points in Game 7

Sports Brief recently reported on the players who scored the most points in Game 7.

Jayson Tatum scored 51 points in the winner-take-all contest against Philadelphia to break Steph Curry’s record.

Curry held the mark for just two weeks after he scored 50 points in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings.
