- Morant said in December last that no team in the Western Conference scares him
Ja Morant faced the full wrath of NBA fans after his bold "I'm fine in the West" comments backfired following the Memphis Grizzlies' 40-point loss in Game 6 of the first round. The defeat saw the Grizzlies exit the playoffs.
In December 2022, Morant ruffled feathers after saying no team in the Western Conference scares him.
Morant's comments saw the Grizzlies become probably the most hated team in the NBA. With Dillon Brooks making many enemies in the league, the Grizzlies put themselves in an awkward position.
Recently, Brooks called Lakers veteran LeBron James old and said he doesn't respect anyone who doesn't score 40 on him.

After the game, Morant was asked about his comment. He was not bothered by it.
"I don't care. I said it. Deal with it."
However, the fans could not let it go.

Sports Brief earlier reported on Morant blaming his off-court issues for his team's underwhelming performances in the playoffs.
Morant said the needs more discipline and focus.
"Off the court, making better decisions. On the court, being locked in even more. Being a leader of this team, it pretty much starts with me."
