The Philadelphia 76ers will head to New York with momentum on their side, after beating the Brooklyn Nets 96-84 in Game 2 of their first-round matchup on Monday night.
Tyrese Maxey poured in 33 points for the Sixers, who now hold a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
He carried Philadelphia’s offense at times, with Joel Embiid and James Harden not putting up their usual numbers in Game 2.
Embiid only scored 20 points as he was limited to just 11 shot attempts. Harden struggled after his offensive masterclass in Game 1, scoring eight points on 3 of 13 shooting, per ESPN.

Harden struggles in first half
Harden shot 1 of 7 in the first half, including 0 for 4 from beyond the arc. He also had two fouls and committed five turnovers.
That caused the Sixers to have a poor start in this contest, with Brooklyn grabbing a 49-44 advantage at half-time.
Cam Johnson had 22 points in the opening half for the Nets, who were disappointed to be only leading by five points at the break.
Maxey leads second-half charge
Philadelphia battled back in the third quarter, outscoring Brooklyn 24-14 to enter the final period with a 68-63 lead. They never trailed again after that, with the Sixers extending their lead to 15 points in the last minute.
Maxey ignited that second-half surge, scoring 18 of his 33 points in the third and fourth quarters. He shot 13 of 23 from the field in Game 2, including 6 of 13 from the 3-point area.

NBATobias Harris also had a solid outing, registering a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Embiid stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 19 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and one steal for the Sixers, who have now won their last six playoff games against the Nets.
Sixers crush Nets in opener
