The 2022 NBA finalists were without MVP candidate, Jayson Tatum (knee injury), Al Horford (back), and center, Robert Williams III (hamstring). Nonetheless, they looked like they were going to steal the win.

They led by as much as 15 points, but Cleveland rallied back to win at home. Grant Williams's exchange with Mitchell was the talking point after the game

Williams trash talks Mitchell

After a timeout late in the fourth quarter, backup guard, Payton Pritchard attempted a floated pass and missed, but Williams was in the vicinity for the put-back.

The 24-year-old was fouled while attempting the shot and stepped to the line to make the free throws. Before he could do that, he boasted he could make both.

Mitchell then riled up the fans to distract Williams. It worked, as he missed the first one. The second one went in and out and Marcus Smart's tip-in was unsuccessful, per SB Nation.

Williams, an 82.7 free throw shooter, needed to make just one to win the game. However, he couldn't back up his trash talk.

Celtics lose to Knicks

Sports Brief also reported on the Celtics losing to the Knicks 131-129 in a double overtime thriller.

Immanuel Quickley stole the show at TD Garden to help New York register a ninth straight win.

MVP candidate, Jayson Tatum led all Celtics scorers with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
