- A couple exchanged vows at half-time of Dallas Mavericks vs Minnesota Timberwolves
- The groom, Reid Malone is a die-hard Mavs fan and wanted to wed inside the team's arena
- However, the couple's team would go on to suffer a narrow loss to Kyrie Irving's home debut
Dallas Mavericks fans jam-packed the American Airlines Center on Monday to watch newly acquired star, Kyrie Irving make his debut.
The guard was phenomenal, but his team narrowly lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Halfway through an entertaining encounter, Ellyn Piatt was escorted to center court to meet groom, Reid Malone and they exchanged vows as tens of thousands of fans closely watched.
It was the second game the pairing of Irving and Luka Doncic were playing together, with the first being a narrow defeat last weekend. The duo combined for 69 points, rallying the team from a 26-point deficit but fell short at the end, losing 124-121.

Irving scored 26 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter while Doncic added 33, but the last possession - a great opportunity to make a potential game-tying shot - was squandered with Irving turning the ball over, per AP.
Couple wed at half-time
Piatt and Malone, a couple from Arkansas, decided to exchange their vows at half-time. Wearing a beautiful wedding dress, the bride was escorted to center court to meet the groom.
Broadcaster, Mark Followill - an ordained minister - officiated the wedding, embellishing the ceremony with hilarious basketball puns.
Ironically, Malone proposed to Piatt in a Mavericks game in December 2021 at the center of the court. According to WFAA, Malone's mother is a season ticket holder and was informed his family are huge Mavericks supporters.

NFLThe team was moved by the proposal and reached out to the couple late last year about having the ceremony during one of their games.
Malone said he couldn't be happier.
"I am nervous, but I'm very excited. This is like a different level, but it's very cute and romantic. We got engaged at a Mavs game and we're getting married at a Mavs game. It's come full circle."
Irving on his future
Sports Brief also reported on Irving asking the media not to ask questions about his future with Dallas as it would distract the team.
Since he was recently traded, the star can only sign a two-year contract extension worth up to $83-million during the season.
The Lakers were heavily linked to the 2016 NBA champion, and it remains to be seen what will transpire in the summer.
