  • Chelsea and West Ham played out a 1-1 draw in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off
  • Two first-half goals from Joao Felix and former blue Emerson decided the match
  • A Chelsea star has gotten himself in hot waters over a full-time joke with an old mate

Chelsea's woes continue as they threw away a bright start and lead to draw at the London Olympics stadium in the derby on Saturday's early kick-off against West Ham.

The Blues started the match on the front foot and took the deserved lead when new signing Enzo Fernandez sent a long ball over the defence for on-loan star Joao Felix, who had a goal disallowed for offside, to slot home.

Former Blue and Italian full-back Emerson pulled one back for the hosts minutes later, and he got a former teammate in trouble with their friendly exchange after the match.

Mount slammed for Emerson joke

English midfielder Mason Mount unsurprisingly started on the bench against the East Londoners due to his poor form and the return of Felix, who completed his three games ban.

Mount, whose contract renewal situation continues to stall, as revealed by ESPN, came on in the closing stages but had limited impact on the game, but it was his actions after the game that got fans talking.

As noted by Express, the 24-year-old was seen embracing and laughing with Emerson at full time, much to the displeasure of the fans who slammed his performance and gesture.

Fans's reaction to Mason Mount

The screenshot of the incident was posted on Twitter by @FutbolChelsea with a powerful caption, and it got the fans venting at their two-time player of the year.

What’s he doing? It’s like he’s purposely trying to annoy the fans.

He was dreadful when he came on too played the wrong ball across the net twice and didn’t have a touch after the 75th minute lol

After such a horrible performance, no reflection and he was just playing around. Cant understand this set of players we have now

Chelsea denied clear penalty appeal

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea were denied a clear penalty after Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek handled a goal-bound shot from Conor Gallagher.

All attempts by the Chelsea players to persuade referee Craig Pawson to have a second look fell on deaf ears, and the Blues would rightly feel they were denied an opportunity to win it late on.

It was the major talking point in the match, which head coach Graham Potter commented on, as well as the club's social media making a series of posts on it.
