Kevin Durant nearly broke the internet when it was announced he would join the Phoenix Suns from the Brooklyn Nets.
There were rumors he would get traded after his All-Star teammate Kyrie Irving asked to be traded days before the NBA trade deadline. After Irving secured a move to the Dallas Mavericks, rumors circulated that Durant could move too.
The two-time NBA champion and forward T.J. Warren were sent to the Suns for a package of Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and several first- and second-round draft picks.
Durant immediately raises the pedigree of the Suns to a serious title contender. He joins forces with Devin Booker and Chris Paul who went to the 2021 NBA Finals but lost to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.

Paul on Durant to the Suns
Durant is yet to play a game for Monty Williams's team but there's a sense of excitement in the Suns fanbase. They were embarrassed by Luka Doncic and the Mavericks in last season's playoffs.
Paul, a veteran point guard, is excited to team up with the future Hall of Famer.
"KD is different, man. He different. That's why he is who he is. He's been doing it in this league for a long time. We got to see what it is," via ESPN.
The 34-year-old is still nursing an MCL sprain so Suns fans will have to wait a bit to watch Durant in their uniform. Paul said he is looking forward to them teaming up.
"It's one of the best players to ever play the game," Paul said. "Just to know how he approaches the game, his nickname's Easy Money, just somebody who loves the game like that. I think that's what brought me and Book closer together because he just love to hoop. And KD, he just love to hoop. So I'm excited about the process of building this team."
Kyrie Irving speaks after making Mavericks debut vs LA Clippers
NBAThe Suns are still chasing their first NBA title. They came close in 2021 but they fell short. Durant, however, brings a championship pedigree. He won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 with the Golden State Warriors and reached the 2019 finals but they lost to the Toronto Raptors.
Darvin Ham warns Western Conference
Sports Brief earlier reported on Lakers coach saying they do not fear any team in the NBA.
He spoke after he was asked about Durant joining the Suns which certainly changes the picture in the Western Conference.
The Lakers have added some good pieces which will improve them. The Nuggets, Warriors, Mavericks and Grizzlies are teams that will be a problem in the West.
