  • Lakers coach Darvin has sent a warning to teams in the Western Conference after Kevin Durant's move to the Phoenix Suns
  • Ham said that the Lakers don't fear anyone
  • The 2020 NBA champions have improved their roster significantly and will look to compete for a title

The NBA Trade deadline came and went. The Western Conference has some of the best NBA players currently. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic are some players in the West.

Kevin Durant recently joined the Phoenix Suns and will team up alongside Devin Booker and veteran point guard Chris Paul. Lakers coach Darvin Ham was asked about Duirant and said his team doesn't fear anyone.

The Lakers themselves added a few new faces to the team. They brought in six players; D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura, Davon Reed and Mo Bamba.

These moves improve the team, but considering the Western Conference got even stronger, it may be a stretch to term them as serious contenders, although that may change in the postseason.

The Suns are certainly a title contender with the addition of Durant. If the three stars in Phoenix stay healthy, they could make serious noise, per USA Today.

Ham warns West teams

The Lakers started the season 2-10, causing panic in the fanbase. Anthony Davis has missed a month with an injury and LeBron James has been impressive all season, keeping the team afloat.

They are 13th in the West with a 25-31 record and will be looking to integrate the new players into the team as quickly as possible. Ham said that although Durant's addition makes the West tougher, they do not fear anyone.

“I think it’s a huge shot in the arm for the Western Conference … but make no mistake about it, we don’t fear anyone,” via SI.

That is a bold statement, but anything is possible if you have James in your team.

Dallas Mavericks also got better offensively with the addition of Kyrie Irving. He joins forces with Luka Doncic. However, their defense is still suspect as they moved some of their best.

The Golden State Warriors are the defending champions and a sleeping giant and it would be stupid to write them off. The Denver Nuggets have been one of the best teams in the league this season and the Memphis Grizzlies can cause problems for any team.

Winners and losers from NBA trade deadline

Sports Brief earlier reported on the trade deadline winners and losers, which ended almost 24 hours ago.

The Suns are obvious winners as they acquired Durant. The Lakers obviously got better. They added shooting, size and versatility.

The Mavericks improved offensively but it remains to be seen if they can survive without great defense.

The Brooklyn Nets lost two elite players in Durant and Irving, therefore they got worse. The Nuggets, who are top of the West may now have to go through the likes of Curry, Durant and James to get to the finals.
