2023 All-Star reserves

14 reserve players will be joined by the 10 starters to form a 24-man All-Star pool. There were quite a few huge snubs in both conferences.

DeMar DeRozan

The 14 reserve teams are made up of two backcourt and three frontcourt players from each conference. It also includes two "wild-card" selections that could come from any position.

Jackson, Gilgeous-Alexander and Markkanen will be playing in their first All-Star Game.

Haliburton's superb performances this season have been rewarded and is the only first-time selection in the East. Meanwhile, Holiday makes the All-Star for the first time in 10 years, per CBS Sports.

2023 NBA All-Star snubs

There were big names missing after the reserves were named. James Harden was arguably the biggest snub. His streak of 10 consecutive selections finally ended as he missed out.

Other snubs include Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis, Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young, Toronto Raptors talisman Pascal Siakam and Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, per ESPN.

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon also missed the cut despite a great season for the number-one seed in the Western Conference.

This will be the sixth time the NBA has conducted a draft with each team led by a captain who was the leading vote-getter in each conference, in this instance, Antetokounmpo and James.

Nuggets' coach Malone to coach team LeBron

Sports Brief earlier reported on Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone being named to lead Team LeBron in the upcoming 2023 NBA All-Star.

Malone has led the Nuggets to the best record in the Western Conference. They currently have the second-best NBA record (36-16).

All-Star coaches are based on which NBA teams have the best slate in each conference a couple of weeks before the game.
