Poole's gung-ho brand of basketball has seen him become the joint leader in the NBA in total turnovers. With Curry still making his way back from injury the spotlight is now on Poole.

The 23-year-old committed 70 turnovers since December 3rd when he started 16 straight games for the Warriors. That is an average of 4.4 per game, the most in the NBA in that span.

Curry defends Poole

Poole's latest turnover probably still lingers in his mind. The Warriors welcomed Detroit Pistons looking to extend their five-game winning streak.

However, they lost the game 122-119. The highlight of the game for Steve Kerr's side was a late-game turnover from Poole, with the Warriors leading with one point.

The guard was looking to win the game for his team but stumbled and lost possession of the basketball, which the Pistons converted into two free throws. Curry had some advice for his teammate, per NBC Sports.

"Look at the film, understand what decisions you made, what decisions you could have made and not be afraid of when that moment comes back because it’s going to come back to you."

Curry added that once Poole gets over that tough stretch, he has a bright future.

"Once you do get over that hump, it’s a real unlock in terms of your career. He’s got a long road ahead of him as being a guy who is going to finish games and be a guy with the ball in his hands. He’ll figure that out.”

Poole is averaging 20.6 points, 4.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 39 games this season, per StatMuse.

Curry injury update

Sports Brief earlier reported on the Warriors confirming that Curry is eyeing a return to NBA action against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

Curry injured sustained a subluxated shoulder against the Indiana Pacers. The injury did not require surgery and was expected to keep him out for around a month.

The Warriors have gone 6-5 without their talisman and had won five straight before losing to Detroit in their last game.
