Projected No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama has said he doesn't understand the tanking culture in the NBA.

The 18-year-old Frenchman has put the world of basketball on notice with his displays in France for his team, Metropolitans 92. His size and skills make him a generational prospect.

In October, Wembanyama made his debut on US soil. Metro 92 came up against G League Ignite, and although they lost 122-115, he didn't disappoint. Projected number two pick Scoot Henderson propelled his team to the win with 28 points.

He finished 37 points, shooting 7-11 from deep, to go along with five blocks. Chris Paul was courtside to witness the French phenom live, per ESPN.

Wembanyama also dazzled in the LNB All-Star Game, putting up 27 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks to help his team emerge victorious, per ESPN.

According to Le Parisien via Bleacher Report, the French youngster said tanking in the NBA confuses him.

"Tanking? It's a weird strategy. I find it unreasonable, and I try not to think about it. I also heard that the NBA considered changing a few rules for me, but that doesn't concern me."

With a wingspan of nearly eight feet and the versatility to play any position on the court, Wembanyanma will bring value to any basketball team. His size, shooting and incredible skills make him one of the most desirable prospects the NBA has seen in a long time.

The Detroit Pistons are 9-28 this season, the worst record in the NBA.

NBA agent on Wembanyama

Sports Brief earlier reported on an NBA agent declaring that Wembanyama will be the greatest basketball player of all time, provided he remains uninjured.

The agent downplayed comparisons to Orlando Magic's Bol Bol, who averages 12.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in his fourth season for the association.

Wembanyama meanwhile will have to prove the hype, but many feel his size and raw talent should help him transition to the NBA easier.
