Jayson Tatum has opened up on Boston Celtics' painful loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals. He looked back to his performances, saying they still linger in his mind.

The Celtics lost in six games to Stephen Curry and the Warriors despite showing a lot of promise early in the finals. Tatum's performance in Game 6 was subject to intense debate, with many fans blaming him for the Celtics' loss.

In the elimination game, the 24-year-old scored 13 points and shot 6 of 18 and committed five turnovers. Stephen Curry's Warriors were considered favourites for the series but stunned them in Game 1, winning 120-108

Although Tatum was great all through the playoffs, Steve Kerr's team presented a lot of problems for the young star.

The seven-time NBA champions' ability to switch and their suffocating defense forced Tatum to do things he probably wasn't comfortable with.

Why the Celtics lost

The Celtics were 2-1 up heading into Game 4 with the knowledge that a win would see them head back to San Francisco 3-1 and on the driving seat.

However, Curry produced a monstrous performance putting up 43 points evening the series. After Game 4 they did not look back again, going on to win 4-2.

Tatum said he felt the Warriors had another gear in them despite having almost the same level of talent, per ESPN.

"Talent-wise, we were right there with them. But you could tell that they had been there before. You could tell they didn't panic. They were just mentally tougher than we were and that's a hard pill to swallow."

On his Game 6 performance, Tatum said he was tired.

"I thought I was rested [for Game 6] but I played terrible then, too," Tatum says. "I didn't have any legs. I was breathing heavy."

Tatum averaged 21.5 points and shot just 36.7 per cent from the field. he also committed 23 turnovers in the six games, per the Athletic.

Fans react to Warriors defeat at Nets

Sports Brief earlier reported on NBA fans' reaction to the Warriors' 30-point defeat at Brooklyn Nets.

The Warriors had lost 132-94 to the New York Knicks and the loss at Brooklyn put them in a precarious position as they try to defend their NBA title.

Many fans felt the defeat was expected since Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins were out with injuries. The Dubs are now 15-18 ahead of the Christmas Day showdown vs the Memphis Grizzlies.
