Balelo started the fight with clever kicks, trying to unnerve Bad News and not allow him to get settled.

Sethwape took his time, but he slowly started finding his range with his punches. Black Panther used his speed to evade more of Sethwape’s shots, and he even countered Bad News’ attempts to take the fight to the ground.

The rest of round one was a chess match between the two as they both got shots in but didn’t overcommit or try too much.

Round 2

Balelo showed great evasion during the second round as he avoided taking damage but pulled off some creative counters.

Sethwape, who would have prepared for van Tonder, took time trying to figure out his opponent. The Black Panther was light on his feet and impressed as he continued to land some hooks, which Sethwape couldn’t answer.

Round 3

Sethwape went into the third round knowing that he had to turn the tide. To do that, he attempted to take the fight to the ground, but Balelo was wily and escaped the first attempt.

It wasn’t so lucky for him the second time around, as Bad News took him down. He didn’t do much damage with the dominant position but did enough to win the round.

Round 4

Despite finding something that worked in the third round, Sethwape was left frustrated in the fourth as Balelo once again just remained out of range.

The Black Panther used his speed and evasiveness to avoid Sethwape’s hands and land counter shots. With a minute to go, Bad News attempted a takedown, but Balelo showed great defence to ensure he wasn’t taken to the ground.

Round 5

The Black Panther continued his evasiveness in the fifth and final round as he outpaced Bad News. Sethwape showed frustration through the fight and in the fifth, as he could not lay a hand on Balelo.

The fight went to the judges’ scorecards but Balelo celebrated as if he had won before the announcement, dancing in the cage and even celebrating with the crowd. He had every reason to celebrate as the judges declared him the winner via unanimous decision.

Van Tonder pulls out of title fight

Balelo became a late replacement after Shannon van Tonder pulled out of the fight.

The latter was due to take on Sethwape for the title but was not cleared by doctors to fight. It’s the second time that a bout between the two had to be called off due to van Tonder being unable to compete.

Balelo competed at EFC 107 for the Flyweight belt a month ago, then stepped in at EFC 108 on 10 hours’ notice.

EFC 108 brings the heat

What a night the event proved to be. EFC 108's main card brought the heat and led into a stellar main event.

There was action, controversy, funny moments, and dominance among the first fights, Sports Brief reported.
