Calvert was on the back foot from the opening bell as Kabesa rushed out with a flying knee. Kabesa perfectly executed a judo throw to take the fight to the ground.

It didn’t take him long to finish the fight and he hooked in a rear-naked choke to pick up the win.

Kabesa’s dominant display once again had commentators noting he deserves to be fighting for an overseas promotion because he was just that good.

During his interview after the fight, Kabesa said that he was ready for fighting overseas or ready to dominate the competition once again in South Africa.

In the main event of the EFC93, the Congo’s Ziko Makengele beat Martin ‘The Punisher’ van Staden by knockout.

A cagey first round between the two escalated towards the end of first half when van Staden landed a head kick. Both fighters started to land blows, and Makengele tried to continue hos assault after the bell, knocking down the referee, Wicus Swart, in the process. Swart had to be replaced for the second round of the fight. Makengele and van Staden would pick up the pace as the fight wore on. Makengele would land some heavy blows and van Staden made the mistake of standing still, asking for more, before he was eventually knocked down for good. Makengele has to be pushed off van Staden despite winning the bout as he tried to rain down a few more punches.
