- Judge explained to reporters after the game why he was glancing towards the Yankees’ bench
Was Aaron Judge cheating?
That was the question on the minds of the Toronto Blue Jays broadcasters, who became suspicious of the New York Yankees captain, as he kept glancing over to his team’s dugout during his at-bat at the top of the eighth inning.
The Yankees were up 6-0 when play-by-play announcer Dan Shulman and color commentator Buck Martinez started their inquiry.
Blue Jays broadcasters make accusation
Shulman got the ball rolling, saying, “All right, Buck, you and I looked at each other right when we saw this three pitches ago.”
He said this while the broadcast showed a slow-motion video of Judge looking away to the Yankees’ dugout.
Color commentator Buck Martinez joined the conversation, saying, “Watch what he’s looking at.”
Shulman stirred the pot, adding, “You don’t want to go throwing allegations around without knowing, but…"
Judge, who had already hit a homer in the first inning, would crush his second home run of the game during that at-bat, per Yahoo! Sports.
The incident occurred after New York manager Aaron Boone was ejected for arguing balls and strikes while Judge was at the plate.
Judge explains his side
Judge was asked after the Yanks’ 7-4 victory about the "cheating allegations". The outfielder explained his reasoning for looking at the Yankees’ dugout during his at-bat.
Judge gave a long explanation, saying:
"Yeah, I was kinda, lot of chirping from our dugout, which I really didn't like in the situation where it's a 6-0 game, and I know Booney got tossed.”
Judge added that he was trying to see who was chirping in the dugout, as they still had work to do.

NBAThe reigning AL MVP said that he felt that the chirping should have stopped after Boone got ejected, and he addressed that matter to some guys in the dugout after the game.
