The ambitious TS Galaxy's latest acquisition Bernard Parker has lashed out at the perceived ageism that seems prevalent in the Premier Soccer League.
The 36-year-old former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker believes that teams are too concerned with players being over the age of 30 instead of placing value on what they can offer.
Speaking to The Citizen, Parker said:
“What I believe is that we are quick to judge when it comes to age. But it is better to judge someone on their performance than their age because that’s fair.

“In Europe, players are judged on their performance and what they bring to the club. The other players who are coming through also become inspired by the senior players because the senior players give them good guidance.”
In July, chairman of the Rockets Tim Sukazi made a statement of intent for the new season by pouncing on free agent Sibusiso Vilakazi after the 32-year-old was let go by Mamelodi Sundowns. Also on the team's roster in terms of over-30s are Lindokuhle Mbatha (37) and Vuyo Mere (38).
