Reports from England indicate that club CEO, Daniel Levy is set to crack the whip on the Italian after his weekend outburst following the three-all draw at Southampton.

A video of Conte on a RyanAir flight is circulating online, though it remains unclear what the date the video was taken on and Spurs are yet to make any announcement about his future.

After a major summer overhaul that saw at least five new big players arrive, fans and pundits alike knew that Spurs was going to cause trouble this season.

Conte might have struggled in European competitions but the domestic cups have always been his forte and thus, expectations were rife that this might be the season the trophy drought will end.

However, after their Champions League elimination by AC Milan, it is highly unlikely the drought will end this year. To make it worse, their North London rivals, Arsenal are on course to winning the Premier League, barring any major misfortunes.

So how did Conte, a coach of high repute and standards, get himself here?

Levy has hired and sacked managers, but perhaps it is time he listens to what the managers say about the club's culture and players.

Jose Mourinho is on record slamming the existing structures of the club. The current Spurs squad needs a bigger overhaul than the one Conte undertook in the summer.

Only Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Christian Romero (despite his dangerous tackles) need to remain at the club.

The rest, led by captain, Hugo Lloris need to find other clubs. But a shake-up of such magnitude can't happen overnight.

Conte was very particular after the Southampton stalemate that his players were playing for something else.

Levy hasn't been quite a big spender but Conte made him dig deep into his pockets. Such gradual and efficient spending over some few transfer windows might help Spurs dig themselves out of this hole.

But on the flip side, Conte hasn't done himself any favours either. Known for his defensive rigidity, the Italian has failed to inspire his team at the back.

Richarlison is also yet to come good on his hefty price tag, with the Brazilian openly blasting his manager.

Kane has been class as always but there is only so much a man can do.

Conte's rants to the media have also not helped. It has been reported in some quarters that after a disappointing result, he never talks to the players and lets them get his reactions from the media.

This approach, for a club expected to be competing for the title this season, has failed to work.

It should also be noted that the former Chelsea boss hasn't been up to full speed after he underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder, Football London reported.

Whether he goes or stays, the fact remains that Conte has done little to bridge the gap between Spurs and the other top-six clubs.

Tottenham remains a club without a clear identity and plan and at this point, Mauricio Pochettino remains the best coach of the Levy era.

At the same time, Tottenham are resigned to losing Harry Kane at the end of the season and have set a huge asking price, amid interest from Manchester United and clubs elsewhere in Europe.
