FootballAntonio Conte Strongly Hints at Tottenham Exit After Latest Defeat to Man City
- Tottenham Hotspur let a two-goal lead slip in defeat against Manchester City
- Antonio Conte’s side is now in genuine danger of missing out on the top four
- The Italian has made some telling comments about the club and on his future
Antonio Conte raised doubts about his future as Tottenham Hotspur boss, after a crushing Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Thursday, January 19.
The Italian is out of a deal in the summer, and there are no signs of a contract renewal in the near future.
Pressure continues to pile on him, and the 4-2 defeat to the Citizens - despite leading 2-0 at half-time - only reignited reports of an impending exit.
Manchester City came into the second half rejuvenated, and wiped out Tottenham’s lead within eight minutes to move to within five points of Arsenal.

For Spurs, it is back to the drawing board, as the north London club has won just once since the return of club football after the 2022 World Cup.
Conte spoke after the defeat to the Citizens, where he blatantly claimed his demands at Spurs were not close to those he had made at the clubs he managed previously.
“If I demanded the same level as at Juventus and Inter, it could be dangerous, as my frustration could be very big,” Conte said as quoted by Standard.co.uk.
Conte said he instead knew what his task in the current situation was, and he was working hard to improve.
“I want to improve the team and the club with my vision, with my idea, with my suggestions. Then for sure, we see.”

FootballThe Italian was then asked what Spurs needed to do to close the gap on the top four, and he quickly responded that it was 'up to the club' and not him.
Conte’s tough few months
On individual level, it has not been the best of months for Conte. He has had to deal with personal tragedies, as two of his close friends recently passed away.
Spurs' fitness coach, Gian Piero Ventrone passed away in October 2022, while Conte’s close friend, Sinisa Mihajlovic passed away towards the end of last year.
Another close friend of the tactician, Gianluca Vialli also lost his life to cancer earlier in January.
Guardiola blasts players despite win
Sports Brief also reported on how Pep Guardiola blasted his players despite a comeback win over Tottenham.
The defending champions were stunned by two quickfire goals at the end of the first half, from Dejan Kulusevski and Emerson Royal.
However, a spirited comeback led by Riyad Marhez saw the hosts record one of the best comebacks in Premier League history.
