Asisat Oshoala has revealed she was not informed by the Nigerian Football Federation about her being dropped as captain of the Super Falcons.
The Barcelona Femini star was named captain of Nigeria's most successful football team after replacing Desire Oparanozie in September 2019 following a disagreement with the NFF the Punch reports.
Oshoala took to social media app, Twitter to disclose she had no idea about the decision taken by the Football Federation after a fan had twitted about her removal.
The Nigeria Football Federation had blamed the underperformance of Oshoala in the Super Falcons team as the reason for taking the band off her.
The football body explained that the responsibilities attached to being the captain of the Super Falcons appeared to have been weighing down the former Arsenal and Liverpool forward.
Onome Ebi to become new Super Falcons captain
Meanwhile, veteran Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi has been named as the new Super Falcons captain following the removal of Asisat Oshoala.
According to Goal, Coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum has named the defender as the team’s new leader ahead of their tour of Canada.
The Super Falcons who are already in Canada will face the Canadians in two games on the 8th of April and the 11th of April.
