Heartbroken Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa Speaks on Barbaric Attacks Along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has called on authorities to immediately make efforts to put an end to the continuous attacks on motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway by bandits.

Bandits have continued to terrorise motorists and travelers along the major highway which leads to the Northern part of the country.

This is coming barely four days after suspected bandits killed an All Progressive Congress’ governorship aspirant in Zamfara State, Sagir Hamida.

It was gathered that the politician was shot dead at Rijana, along Kaduna-Abuja highway late Sunday, November 21.

Imran Ahmad-Rufai, a political associate to the deceased and media aide to Dauda Lawan, another governorship aspirant, confirmed the incident to Premium Times.

In what is gradually becoming a daily affair, several clips continue to make the rounds on social media as motorists attempt to take cover after being attacked by bandits.

Ahmed Musa sad about the development

Musa has expressed sadness over the situation, saying the atrocities must be put to an end attacks so that people can go about their normal activities. He said on Instagram:

“It's shocking to see images and videos of these incidents along Abuja/Kaduna roads. These are people going about their normal business most likely seeking daily bread.
“Their safety should be of uttermost importance to the government. I therefore seek the indulgence of the authorities to please put an end to these atrocities by any means possible so that citizens can go about their normal lives without fear.
“This has to stop. It's absolutely disheartening to say the least.”

House of Reps urge security agencies to end attacks

Following the persistent kidnapping of Nigerians plying the Kaduna-Abuja Highway, the House of Representatives on Wednesday, November 24, urged the security agencies to live up to their responsibilities.

According to the lawmakers, the security agencies must end the attacks and save the lives as the House adopted a motion by Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba (APC, Nassarawa) who described the increasing attacks on travellers on the road as alarming.

Nigerian Air Force moves against bandits in Sokoto

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the wife and mother of a notorious bandit popularly known as Bokkolo in Sokoto state were reportedly trapped as fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force bombarded his residence in the state.

Air Force which launched its attack in a joint operation with the Nigeria Army, Air Force, Police, DSS, among others succeeded in killing many lieutenants of the bandits in Sokoto state.

The operation by the Nigerian Air Force against the bandits started on Friday, November 19, with some of the gunmen fleeing to Tsabre, Sarkin Darai and Tiɗibale areas in the state.
