Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh, who is in Qatar as a match expert for FIFA, has tipped Senegal and Morocco to fly Africa’s flag high at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana, Cameroon and Tunisia are other African teams at the Mundial, but Oliseh suggested that the Teranga Lions and the Atlas Lions have impressed him.

Sharing his views on various topics, Oliseh emphasized the importance of data for analysts and coaches as he hinted at what should be expected from the African teams.

He stated that he is impressed with what he has seen in the African teams so far.

Oliseh continued via The Nation:

“I watched the African teams and I’m impressed with what I saw. I think we have two solid teams. The five of them are solid and this is the first all five teams are going to the World Cup with African handlers. It is a landmark.

“However, two of them on paper, and what I have seen stand out, and that is Senegal and Morocco. Now, which of the teams will be able to apply the Enhanced Football Intelligence (EFI) metrics, and a solid game plan and be able to move to the next level and surprise the world, I see Senegal.

“They are a solid team. Morocco is not playing African football again, they are not playing Arab football or European football, they are playing a mix of all, so it’s going to be interesting. So, let’s see if they can keep up the pressure.”

Oliseh arrives in Qatar on a special assignment

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh has arrived in Qatar and has joined other technical experts selected to bring enhanced football intelligence to fans during the World Cup.

Sharing photos on his social media handles, Oliseh was spotted with German legend Jurgen Klinsmann, and ex-Swiss international Pascal Zuberbuhler (Zubi), among six panelists led by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Despite that Nigeria failed to qualify for the tournament, former captain and coach of the country’s national team, Oliseh, is on a special assignment at the global showpiece.
