CAF, Football Fans Celebrate Nigerian Football Icon Jay Jay Okocha on His 49th Birthday

Legendary Jay Jay Okocha, who remains an icon in world football, has clocked 49, and the Confederation of African Football is celebrating the superstar.

Known for his magical dribbling skills during his playing days, Okocha stunned the world following his exploits for several clubs in Europe.

The Enugu-born ex-international featured for Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, Paris Saint Germain and other clubs in Europe.

During his time with the English club Bolton Wanderers, he earned the moniker "Jay-Jay – so good they named him twice".

Football

Okocha played for Nigeria’s national football team between 2003 and 2006, featuring in 73 matches and scoring 14 goals.

He was Nigeria’s Footballer of the Year a record seven times, but somehow he missed out on the prestigious CAF Player of the Year Award.

As he celebrates his 49th birthday, CAF wrote on Twitter:

“So good they named him twice. Happy birthday to the @NGSuperEagles legend, @IAmOkocha.”

And fans have taken to the post's comment section to also salute the former midfield maestro.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles captain Jay Jay Okocha has stated that he really likes Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, who continues to impress in the Bundesliga.

The former midfield maestro has lauded the talents of the English footballer as he urged German club Dortmund to keep him as long as they can.

When asked to predict a young player who could enjoy a standout season in the Bundesliga, Okocha was quick to name the England international.
