Legendary Senegal forward El Hadji Diouf has named former Nigeria captain Jay-Jay Okocha the most talented African footballer ever.
According to Diouf, who was a former teammate of the Okocha at English club Bolton Wanderers, he has never seen a player as talented as the midfielder since he was born.
Okocha was renowned for his dribbling abilities, especially his skills in the use of step-overs, however, the midfielder failed to clinch the Africa Player of the Year or any top individual award during his playing years.
“The most talented African football since I was born is Okocha. He's the most talented player I've ever seen, but he didn't win a trophy, he didn't win a gold ball,” Diouf told RSI, as per Press-Sport.
Diouf enjoyed success during his playing years and won a number of individual prizes, including the African Player of the Year award in 2001 and 2002.
Diouf featured for Sochaux, Rennes, Lens, Liverpool, Bolton, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Doncaster Rovers, Leeds United and Sabah FA before his retirement from professional football.
