  • Super Eagles forward, Josh Maja, has been linked with a move to Birmingham City in the Championship ahead of the summer transfer window
  • Maja is currently on the books of French Ligue 1 club, Bordeaux but was loaned out to another Championship club, Stoke City in January
  • Maja has struggled to replicate his best form this season after scoring just twice in 17 appearances for Stoke City

Josh Maja could be on the move again when the summer transfer window opens as Birmingham City have renewed their interest in signing the Nigerian forward.

The 23-year-old attacker joined English Championship club, Stoke City on loan in January after failing to tie down a regular shirt with French Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux.

According to a report via Complete Sports, Birmingham City is leading the race to sign Maja whom they also signaled an interest in back in January before he joined Stoke City.

The Nigerian forward who has just one cap for the Super Eagles has struggled for form this season and has netted just twice in 17 games for Stoke City.

The 23-year-old is billed to return to France once his loan spell expires at the end of the season as he still has a year left on his current deal with Bordeaux.

Birmingham wants another Nigerian magic

If the move to Birmingham City materializes, Maja will join the likes of former Super Eagles players including Sone Aluko and Obafemi Martins who had one time in their careers represented the Blues.

According to Birmingham Mail, the Blues are expected to overhaul their squad this summer and the Championship club has identified Maja as a key target.

Sone Aluko started their football career with the Birmingham in 2007 while Obafemi Martins featured for the English club on loan in 2011 where he scored the winning goal in the 2011 Carabao Cup Final.

Stoke City signs Super Eagles striker

Earlier, Sports Brief reported English Championship club, Stoke City, has announced the signing of Super Eagles striker Josh Maja from French Ligue one club Bordeaux.

Josh Maja joins The Potters on loan until the end of the season after struggling to get game time with Bordeaux.

Maja becomes the fifth signing for Stoke City joining the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Phil Jagielka, Lewis Baker, and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.
