  • Samuel Kalu and William Troost-Ekong, both Nigerians, will miss Watford' league match against Brentford says Hornets manager, Roy Hodgson
  • The Super Eagles players have been ruled out of the important clash against the Bees by injuries after they failed to recover in time
  • Watford are presently in the 19th position in the Premier League table with just 22 points after 31 games played in the league

Watford will be without two of their African stars William Troost-Ekong and Samuel Kalu when they tackle Brentford on Saturday, April 16.

The Hornets will host the Bees at Vicarage Road as they continue their bid to escape getting relegated from the Premier League.

According to a report via Soccernet, Watford manager, Roy Hodgson confirmed in his pre-match press conference that both Super Eagles players will not feature against Brentford due to injury.

Since joining Watford from Bordeaux in the winter transfer window, injuries have prevented Watford from getting the best out of Samuel Kalu.

Also, William Troost-Ekong has struggled with injuries and match fitness since returning to England from the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

A must win game for Watford

Watford will aim to curb their losing run when Brentford comes visiting Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon as the Hornets have lost four of their last five games.

According to the BBC, Brentford are on a roll now, with four wins out of their past five games as the Bees look set to retain their Premier League status in their first season in the English topflight.

If Watford lose to Brentford, they will become only the second team to lose 10 consecutive top-flight home games in a season. Birmingham City did so in 1985-86.

Ekong set for surprise move away from the Premier League

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Williams Troost-Ekong might just be on his way out of the Premier League following revelations a Major League Soccer side wants the Nigerian defender.

The 28-year-old has had an inconsistent season with Premier League relegation strugglers, Watford, and the hornets will be interested in letting go of the defender.

American Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy is looking to sign Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong from Watford on a loan deal.
