Paul Onauchu resumed his chase for another top scorers award in Belgium as the Super Eagles striker scored as Racing Genk defeated Standard Liege on Sunday, February 13.
It was Onauchu’s 14th goal of the season in all competitions for Racing Genk as the striker’s 53rd-minute strike sealed a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Liege.
According to a report via Goal, the lanky Nigerian striker had a goal disallowed as early as the second minute for offside but got his goal in the second half of the encounter.
The 27-year-old’s goal took his tally for the Belgian outfit to 14 goals in all competitions as the striker pushes to win consecutive top scorers awards in the Jupiler League.
Brila reports that the Super Eagles goal was his first in seven attempts playing against Standard Liege in Belgium.
Onauchu Injuries a worry for Genk
Meanwhile, Paul Onauchu’s comeback from a hamstring injury has been good news for Racing Genk as the striker has shown to be pivotal for the Belgium club in the attack.
According to Transfer Market, the Super Eagles forward was out injured for 29 days as he missed the African Cup of Nations for Nigeria.
The 27-year-old striker picked up the injury in December 2021 and missed three crucial games for Genk who are currently placed 8th on the Jupiler League standing.
