Nigerian Striker Scores Brace in Club’s Emphatic Win in India, Breaks All-Time Goal-Scoring Record

Bartholomew Ogbeche is now the recognized goal king in India after the former PSG striker broke the all-time goal-scoring record in India.

The former Super Eagles attacker scored a brace as Hyderabad cruised to a 5-0 victory over NorthEast United to extend their lead at the top of the Indian Super League to four points.

According to a report via the Times of India and Goal, Ogbeche scored his 48th and 49th league goal in the Indian top-flight league to overtake previous record-holders Sunil Chhetri and Ferran Corominas.

The 37-year old achieved the feat in just three-and-half years playing in the India premier club competition.

Ogbeche scored 12 goals for NorthEast United, 14 for Kerala Blasters and has already had 14 goals to his name in 13 matches this season to catapult to the summit of the scorers’ chat in India.

Bartholomew Ogbeche represented Nigeria at the 2002 World Cup, playing two matches in the competition as Nigeria failed to advance past the group stages.

According to The Guardian, The Nigerian striker has played his club football in France, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Greece, England, the Netherlands and India.

Ogbeche was signed by French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain in 2001 but failed to make a meaningful impact with the French team.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew scores 10th goal on return to Al Sadd

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Ghana captain Andre Ayew was on the scoresheet as Al-Sadd thrashed Al-Wakrah 6-0 in the Qatari Stars League on Monday.

Ayew climbed off the bench in the 66th minute to score his 10th league goal of the season with his first touch after his introduction.

The 32-year-old nodded home his side’s fifth goal of the match following a free-kick from the left side of the attack.
