She said on her Instagram, accompanied by a video of proceedings:
"Watching my boys @royalam_fc on the field of play, brought me so much joy yesterday. Derby’s aren’t easy but my players were determined. We managed to bag our first 3 points this year and I couldn’t be more prouder. This was a much needed win and we hope keep this momentum up."
MaMkhize also thanked all the supporters who turned out during the game, saying the club needed their backing desperately.
She also included a number of relevant hashtags including #MyWorldMyRules and #KZNDerby.
The Citizen reported that there was a violent break-in at the football club owner's La Lucia residence that she shares with her ex-husband, Sbu Mpisane on the same weekend, something she did not entertain when contacted by the media.
The incident was alleged to have been an attempted hit on Mpisane, with one attacker being injured and two accomplices escaping without any ill-gotten gains.
SA football's 'worst decision' ridiculed
Ridiculous; absolutely laughable. These are the words one can only use to describe a terrible decision made by match officials, during the KZN derby between Royal AM and AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership on Sunday.
The officials sensibly overturned the shocking decision, but the proverbial horse had already bolted by then.
