Jose Mourinho has slammed AS Roma supporters after a section of the fans booed their players during their game against Verona on February 19.

Roma battled to a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, but the mood was dampened after some players were shown contempt during the game.

Mourinho was far from happy and called for respect for his players as they continue to scale up the Serie A table.

"We are a team of serious people who give everything every time we step on the pitch. We are a team that loses. More defeats, draws, victories will eventually come our way, but we must be respected."

Mourinho fumed at fans not knowing the sacrifices players made to be on the pitch.

"There is a whole side of the stadium that supports us every time, and then there are a few areas that I feel are passive, and finally there is another sector which feels like it’s populated by opposing fans," he said as quoted by Roma Press.

Is Mourinho moving to Chelsea?

The Portuguese manager then went on a full tirade about how he wants fans to rather criticise him, not the players.

This comes at a time when the 61-year-old continues to be linked with a surprise third stint at Chelsea.

Graham Potter is struggling to win games, with fans calling for him to be sacked, while Mourinho has in the past admitted he almost quit Roma in December.

PSG eyeing move for Mourinho

At the same time, Sports Brief reported on Mourinho being on the radar of Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

The French club is desperate to win the UEFA Champions League and their latest setback in the last-16 first-leg tie against Bayern Munich has them seeking options.

PSG’s sporting director, Luís Campos has reportedly contacted his fellow countryman and AS Roma head coach, Mourinho as they look to replace Christophe Galtier.
